OCTOBER/NOVEMBER/DECEMBER CLASSES

CABLED VEST - What a gorgeous vest this is.  As hard as it looks it really was quite easy.  I had the chart blown way up, we color coded the different cables and away we knitted.  I like this so much I am making a second one, red this time.  This class will meet on the first Saturday of October, November, December and January. We will finish the vest in class in January. Each class you attend will be $25.00. Materials Needed - We are recommending Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000 or Silk Maiden from Fleece Artist, US 4 and 6 circular needles or needles to gauge, a cable needle and lots of stitch markers.  Pattern free with the purchase of yarn.

October 6 - Saturday 10:30 to 1:00pm - Gauge Swatch, measurements, cast on for back of vest -$25.00
November 3 - Saturday 10:30 to 12:30 - Back of vest should be finished, starting both fronts at the same time, Q&A about pattern, problems - $25.00

AMELIE CROCHETED/KNITTED JACKET - 2nd Saturday of October, November, December, January $25.00 each class.  Supplies Needed:  Your choice of four/five different types, weights and colors of yarn, needles appropriate for each type yarn, buttons

This is the most fun project I have done in both Knit and Crochet.  The fact I can use my own imagination, not match someone else's gauge, it's all based on how I knit and crochet, be able to work with textures I want to and colors that I want to and never see myself coming!  The next one I do will be crocheted in much lighter weight yarns, like my favorite Sea Silk!

October 13,2012 - 10:30 - 1:30 - Take measurements, gauge swatch the different stitches start with cuff and work on
lower sleeve. You can start both sides at once.  Do one cuff, than do the other cuff  $25.00
                                                                  November 10, 2012 - 10:30am - 1:00pm - Work on Shoulder and sides (this will involve different stitches).  $25.00
December 8, 2012 - 10:30am - 1:00pm- We will be seaming the back.  Starting the button band. $25.00
January 19, 2012 - 10:30am - 1:00pm - Button band side with button holes, sew in ends and get dressed for class pictures!! $25.00

MAY CLASS SCHEDULE

ENTRELAC SCARF - May 5 - Saturday- 10:30am to 1:30pm - $50.00 -Materials: At least 300 yards of yarn and needles appropriate for yarn.

The fun is in the making of this gorgeous scarf. It doesn't matter what yarn you use, it still turns out beautiful. Self striping yarns make great entrelac (look of woven fabric) squares. You will learn to knit backwards before we start the actual entrelac technique. When you knit backwards you never have to turn your work to do the purl stitches. Knitting backwards produces a purl on the backside and a knit on the front side. Not having to turn your work saves lots of time when doing entrelac. We are making this a four hour class after teaching it several times, we have found that extra hour goes a long ways in helping your understand and see what is happening.

TWO AT A TIME SOCKS - May 12 and May 19 - 2 Saturdays - 10:30am to 2:30pm - $65.00 Materials: Students need sock yarn, the book Knitting More Circles Around Socks and One 16" and one 24" needles both the same size, if you are a loose knitter brings ones, if you are a tight knitter bring twos. Great Mother's Day Gift!

It is a simple granny square border and then we pick up stitches and do revolving rows of knits than rows of purls. Easy as can be and lots fabulous done. I used one skein of Pashmina, a wonderful wool/cashmere blend. There are many yarns in the store that will work for this pattern.

AMELIE KNIT/CROCHET JACKET

AMELIE KNIT/CROCHET JACKET
- Saturdays - 10:30am - 2:00pm - 3 week class Jan, 21, Jan. 28 & Feb. 4 - $65.00 plus supplies.
What a fabulous class this will be. Knitters and Crocheters in the same class, doing the same jacket with different stitches. I cannot wait to see these jackets comleted. They are knit or crocheted in two pieces, than seamed down the back, and cardigan front (those button bands are my new's years resolution!) You start this jacket at the cuff, work up the arm and down one side of the body up and over the shoulder to the front, start the other side and seam them together. This jacket uses five different stitches, five different kinds of material, five different colors if you choose and is a fast knit or crochet project. You never lose interest. We have as many knitters as crocheters in this class. It is all based on YOUR stitch gauge, in other words you are not trying to match anyone else's gauge. We get many compliments on the store model and I can't wait for my crocheted jacket to have a partner, the knitted version! This class begins Saturday, January 21st!

ENTRELAC Scarf

Supplies - Approximately 400 yards of yarn in a dk weight, self striping yarns make lovely, intertesting scarves. The nicer the yarn, the nicer the scarf looks, your possibilities are endles! You want needles one size large than appropriate for yarn unless you are a loose knitter. If you are a loose knitter, use the needle size the yarn recommends. We will be starting a scarf after we learn the basics, such as; knittting backwards. When you knit backwards it creates a purl stitch without purling. The other way of knitting entrelac (a french word for interwoven fabric) is much more time consuming and labor intensive as every few rows you are turning your work. It is quite additive once you get the hang of it.

Duct Tape Body

Duct Tape is good for every body! Supplies Needed: a tight fitting t shirt that you do not mind being ruined. Duct Tape (which we will supply) stuffing (polyfill/old newspapers), scissors will be supplied> Be prepared for lots of giggling in this class! When you are finished, you will have a perfect mannequin formed to your own body. When knitting your own sweaters you can pin the pieces to your mannequinn to check the fit. I plan on having several at the shop.
